Greta Thunberg has been accused of turning her back against the climate movement, with activists left furious after she delivered a “completely obscene” rant.
The 20-year-old has been accused of risking splitting the movement which is trying to tackle global warming.
GB News: Greta Thunberg interrupted on-stage at Amsterdam protest
She addressed over 70,000 people, telling them: “We have to listen to the voices of those who are being oppressed and those who are fighting for freedom and justice.”
Referring to the people of Palestine, she then led the audience in a chant: “No climate justice on occupied lands.”
A man then stormed the stage to snatch the mic out of Greta Thunberg’s hands, accusing her of turning the march into a political event.
“I came here for a climate demonstration, not a political view,” the man said as he wrestled the microphone from Thunberg.
Moments later, the intruder was hurried off stage, as Thunberg began to shout again: “No climate justice on occupied land!”
The German Green party co-leader Ricarda Lang called her appearance in Amsterdam “completely obscene”.
Der Spiegel published an article about Thunberg titled: “An Idol Loses Her Way: Has Greta Thunberg Betrayed the Climate Movement?”.
The magazine poses the question “Is Greta Thunberg antisemitic, or just incredibly naive?”
The German Weekly argues that “the iconic activist’s actions now threaten to divide the climate movement and the left.
“Thunberg has changed since the summer of 2018, when she became famous. She is no longer a girl,” the magazine article says.
The Jewish State said that she is no longer a “role model” for students
“And she no longer seems shy or hesitant in the spotlight.”
Last month, the Israeli Ministry of Education announced that they will remove any positive references to Greta Thunberg from its educational curriculum, after the activist refused to condemn Hamas.
The Jewish State argued that she is unable to “differentiate between good and evil” and therefore is no longer a “role model” for students.
She will still be mentioned to highlight her contribution to the environmental movement but any laudatory mentions of her will be removed.
“Following Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg’s biased and one-sided support for Gaza, without condemning Hamas, the Ministry of Education has decided to remove educational resources that portray her as a role model or a source of inspiration,” the ministry wrote.
